Hotel Dogs, Gyantse, Tibet
As you see from the close-up of the sign above the door,(see main image) this is 'Monasterys hotel', but I called it Hotel Dogs because I counted more than 50 of them. From little puppies to very old, all dreadfully thin, but not afraid. They had obviously found a sanctuary here.

Gyantse is 262 km from Lhasa and is Tibet's third largest town, but it doesn't have much status these days. Gyantse seemed almost untouched by anything modern - but some military in jeeps and army units marching around the town broke the spell. A 14th century hilltop fortress, a monastery and, most amazing of all, Gyantse Kumbum (image 0028), a giant stupa.
