Lhasa, outside the Jokhang temple.
Close to the entrance of the Jokhang temple are two big pot-bellied, stone incense burners (sangkang) see image 0029. We bought herbs from this little child's mother and throwing them into the billowing flames, made our offerings and thought of loved ones. The aromatic smoke was good, as were the bright flames, the day biting cold and crisp.
Right turning conch shell - symbol of good fortune
Colourful streams of Tibetan pigrims circumambulate the Barkhor route clockwise around the temple. I feel very at home here.
