Northwest of Monda La pass (5,266m) we came upon a high lakeland plain of total tranquility, turquoise waters, yak herds, a few nomad families and silence, a deep rushing silence.

This is the eastern shore of lake Phuma Yutso (5,040m) not far from the small village of Tu in Nakartse county, Tibet. The Tibetan in the image is a villager from Tu.
