Tu village Nakartse county, southern Tibet. The area is a vast high altitude depression with two large lakes and only 3 small villages, Tu being on the eastern edge of Lake Phuma Yutso. The mountain is Monda Kangri (6,425 metres) and the Monda La pass (5,266 metres) forms the trading link to Bhutan. Apart from nomadic travellers with their yak herds, the region is empty. We did not see another vehicle and at times everything was covered in snow. In Tu villiage I had much fun with the children who were half inquisitive and half afraid of me. Finally, when I had entertained them sufficiently they allowed me to take photographs.
