View from
the roof of the Jokhang Temple.
Every day
and all day Tibetans make their prostrations in front of the Jokhang. It's
a wonderful view from the roof - all of Barkhor Square with its comings and
goings and up on a hill not far away gold on the roof of the Potala Palace
glints in the sun.
I made my
own prostrations and was shown exactly how I should do this correctly by the
Tibeten women. They were very friendly with me, making me eat tsampa (ground
roasted barley flour) and correcting my chanting again and again until I got
it just right. They loved giving me a hard time, and I enjoyed it too. |
